Do Tripadvisor Reviews Really Work?

When we were planning our trip to London, my first instinct was to check out the hotels and where else do I go but to Tripadvisor.com.

However, one thing I noticed is that people reviewing London hotels are much more critical of UK hotels versus those reviewing hotels in Asia.If I compare the hotels we have booked in the UK and the budget hotels we stayed with in Asia, they are almost equal in terms of being probably old and lacking design but despite that people were more forgiving of small flaws in hotels in Asia than those in Northern America and in the UK.

I guess this comes with preconceived notions of hotels in Asia and those from more developed economies like UK and Europe.

That was the main reason why it was very hard to research for cheap but good budget hotels in Europe and UK. So my main criteria then when we chose our hotels in UK was basically centered on one thing alone, LOCATION!

Anyway, this week, I got this email from Tripadvisor.
