The London Olympics is just 5 days away.As the date of the Olympics draws closer, the question in everybody’s mind is that whether London is ready to host the 2012 Olympics or not.
P.S. Pardon the pictures, I have to prove that we really went to London (smile)! Some people might feel suspicious about these observations. As I will always say and reiterate over and over again "To Each His Own". When we arrived in London on June 23 (these are just my observations comparing it to what we saw in Beijing after the Olympics), we saw these:
Move to the Beat of the London Olympics at Heathrow from Coca Cola(major sponsors of the London Olympics).
Coca Cola is not a newbie at this. It has been sponsoring the Olympics since the Amsterdam Games of 1928 and has already extended its agreement to take it to 2020.
Unmanned Welcome Desk of London 2012 at Heathrow airport
Compared to Beijing which even built a new airport (the worlds biggest) in time for the Olympics, the Brits looks like they are scrimping on their Olympics budget. The Olympics was like the biggest coming out party for China. In comparison, the Brits would probably rationalize that this is the 3rd time they have hosted the Olympics (1908,1948 and 2012) and that they are experts at it.
All around London,we hardly saw any Olympics Logo except for that at the Tower Bridge

and the
Omega Olympics Countdown clock at Trafalgar Square.

That's all we saw, but to be fair to the Brits, despite the long queues at Immigrations,Immigration Officers were polite and friendly unlike US Immigration Officers who suspect everyone as terrorists.

However it would surely help if they have fast track immigration counters.

What London will suffer from is the hype and hoopla that the Beijing Olympics created. For one, it pales in comparison to the Beijing Olympics infrastructure.
London Olympics Stadium (Above)The London Olympics competition is an opportunity for the host nation to flaunt its power and industry through the architecture of its Olympic park. In 2008, Beijing’s centerpiece, the Bird’s Nest set the bar Olympically high with its innovative, futuristic design.
Beijing's "Birds Nest" Olympic Stadium Comparing Londons Stark Olympics stadium to Beijings Birds Nest Stadium is like comparing apples to oranges. There's simply no comparison.

and presenting, part of the welcoming committee, the Mayor of London who probably needs a haircut or a new hairstyle.
Weather permitting(also), every Brit is probably praying for sunnier weather unlike the dismal rains and wet weather they have been experiencing since June.
Maybe the organizers can offers eggs to the Santa Clara monastery to ask them to pray for the rains to stop.(just a suggestion)(Clara in Castillian means “a short interval of fair weather on a rainy day)
CHEERS!
