Since we are Philippine passport holders we have to get a visa to allow us to travel to Australia, Europe and UK. Only these countries allow visa free entry for Philippine passport holders.

This is to document the Processing time of obtaining a visa for Schengen region and for travelling to Commonwealth countries (Canada ,Australia, UK etc)

Applying for an Australian Visa

When we applied for our Australian visa in Singapore it took us only 3-4 days to get it.

However, from 1 July 2012, the Australian High Commission in Singapore will no longer issue visa labels in passports for people granted visas for Australia. This is in line with the global initiative of moving to a "label free" environment.

Australia's modern electronic visa system does not require you to have a visa label placed in your passport to confirm your immigration status and entitlements in Australia. When you check in to fly to Australia, airline staff will electronically confirm that you have authority to travel to Australia prior to boarding the aircraft, using your passport: See: About your Visa (http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/about-your-visa.htm)

People of any nationality who are granted a visa from 1 July 2012 will instead be issued with a visa grant notification letter. This notification letter explains the conditions of the visa including period of validity and entry entitlements. You are encouraged to carry the notification letter with you.

I think this move is very efficient.

Processing time in Singapore-3-4 working days

SCHENGEN VISA

We applied for our Schengen Visa at the German Embassy in Toronto. Since it was a business visa, processing was 5 working days.

A Schengen visa will allow you to travel to all 25 countries in Europe except the United Kingdom.

The following 25 countries are Schengen Visa members:

Processing time of this visa in other embassies (e.g. Italian, French or Netherlands embassy varies but they will usually state within 15 working days).

UK VISA

A UK Visa allows you to enter these countries in the United Kingdom namely:England, Scotland ,Wales and a part of Northern Ireland.

Once you get your visa, you will see the similar stamp used by both Schengen and UK visas.
