We visited Beijing in 2010 and when hubby was looking for a restaurant to dine in , I promised him that I will treat him to the best Peking Duck in town.I was told that eating Peking Duck is one of the two musts for first-time visitors to Beijing(the first is climbing the Great Wall of China) and I made sure we won't leave Beijing without having our Peking duck.

Peking Duck is a famous duck dish from Beijing that has been prepared since the imperial era, and is now considered one of China's national foods.

The meat is eaten with pancakes, scallion, and hoisin sauce or sweet bean sauce. The two most notable restaurants in Beijing which serve this delicacy are Quanjude and Bianyifang, two centuries-old establishments which have become household names.

Since it was our first time to visit Beijing, I googled some restaurant reviews online about the best Peking duck restaurants in Beijing. I also asked the hotel concierge about recommendations for Peking duck restaurants near our hotel.

Bianyifang was a highly recommended restaurant by our hotel. It has the reputation of being the oldest Peking Duck restaurant operating in Beijing. It is located in a shopping center beside our hotel in downtown Beijing.

We can't believe the number of ducks we saw being carved before our eyes. A lot of families come here just to celebrate and enjoy the crispy Peking duck that this restaurant is well known for.

The duck meat itself was very juicy and moist. It was served with the normal sauce, pancakes and cucumber which was nice and really lets the duck taste shine.

Aside from Peking duck, we also ordered mixed vegetables and Shrimps in wine. All our dishes were finger licking good. It was a novelty to watch the restaurant personnel carve the ducks We ordered a whole duck between hubby and myself. The duck had brown but soft skin and had a visible layer of fat.

Basing on the crowd inside the restaurant we knew we didn't make a mistake in coming here for dinner. Don't leave Beijing without trying out a Peking Duck and I will recommend this restaurant .
