Using Hotel Rewards to Book Hotel Rooms in Europe

We still don't have a Schengen visa that will allow us to travel around Europe but I have already started piecing together our 6 day European jaunt(cross fingers).I realized if we wont be lucky to get a visa I can still cancel our hotel so making an early hotel reservation was not a risky plan as long as I just used hotel points(and not cash) to pay for our stay.
I can't book our train tickets yet which can only be done within 90 days before departure but hotel reservations MUST be made earlier if you want to choose the location of your hotel. This I found out only today when the Paris hotel that I was planning to book through Hotel rewards points is no longer available for redemption. I should have booked earlier(sigh).
PARIS HOTEL
I was still lucky to get a room reserved at Holiday Inn Montmarte which is near the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur. However I checked Holiday Inn's online chat reservation system and was able to change my reservation to the Holiday Inn Notre Dame property which was nearer most tourist attractions in Paris.
The Holiday Inn's chat system was super efficient I was able to change my reservation within 15 minutes. Booking a room at this Holiday Inn property requires 35,000 Holiday Inn Priority Rewards Points for a room with 2 single beds . The good thing is that you can see a good view of the city through the balcony of this hotel. BRUSSELS HOTEL
From Paris, we plan to take the train to Brussels and for accesibility reasons, I decided to book at Marriot Brussels which is a 5 minutes walk to the Grand Palace and walking distance to other major tourist attractions in Brussels. Booking a room at Marriot Brussels only required 30,000 Marriot Rewards points. In the next few weeks and month, I hope I can book the rest of our stays in Europe.
