We love the Philippines so much, our vacation would not be complete if we don't include in our plans visiting some of the major tourist spots in the country. Since 2006 we made it a point to visit a province everytime we go home for our Christmas vacation. So we started this goal in 2006 and since then have visited Cebu,Baguio, Subic, Coron in Palawan, and Boracay. It only stopped when we migrated to Canada.
But now since we are scheduled for a vacation in Manila, I have lined up the following trips (thanks to budget airline sales) to various places.
ILOILO,BACOLOD& GUIMARAS I have not visited these places since the 80s so I plan to visit them with my sister Malou(since my two boys will be recuperating from a minor surgery at this time). These places are in my list of MUST sees.
Miagao Church -in Miagao town Iloilo-a world heritage site
The Ruins (Lacson Mansion) in Bacolod- the Philippines "mini" version of the Taj Mahal
The Trappist Monastery,GuimarasI have fond memories of the Trappist Monastery for its cashew nuts and for Guimaras because of its sweet mangoes and the hospitality of its people. I stayed in Guimaras for a week in the 1980s and our tricycle driver brought us bushels of mangoes without asking for payment. I guess he was just being thankful since we hired his services for a week.Such hospitality!
PUERTO PRINCESA,PALAWANWe, of course, want to join the band wagon of visiting the Underground River, the MUST GO place in the Philippines at the moment.
LEGAZPI CITY- This is a place that is so near to my hometown in Quezon province and yet I have never even set foot in. So in August before our return to Toronto, we shall visit the Majestic
Mayon Volcano
I am so excited for this trip even though its only a day trip since I have already booked our hotel at the Oriental which I believe has the best view of the Volcano.

and lastly, how can we forget to say hello to the Tarsier, We will visit
BOHOL via CEBU. I want my two sons to see this natural wonder, the
CHOCOLATE HILLS of Bohol
See a part of Philippine History,
The BLOOD COMPACT SITE(I have to refresh my knowledge of Philippine history here)

and of course to see the lovable
Tarsiers
A big THANK YOU to budget airlines Cebu Pacific and Zest Air ,going to these places nowadays won't break the bank because of their seat sales .
We found the cheapest sale seats on:
Manila to Iloilo -US$35 (P1,360)/person (Cebu Pacific)
Manila to Cebu-US$34 (P1357)/person(Cebu Pacific)
Manila to Puerto Princesa - US$26(P1,020)/person(Zest Air)
Manila to Legazpi City-US$43 (P1,770)/person(Zest Air)
I just hope there will be no typhoon during our trips, so thats it... the magnificent SEVEN (7) provinces in our trip:ILOILO,BACOLOD,GUIMARAS,PUERTO PRINCESA,LEGAZPI CITY, CEBU AND BOHOL....Here we come!
